Brent Gillis

Brent Gillis is the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and a Member of the firm. He joined The Welch Group in 2018 as the Special Projects Manager and has since advanced into a leadership position with broad involvement across the organization. In his current role, Brent oversees the firm’s daily operations and compliance program while also supporting the growth and development of its employees. This experience has enhanced his understanding of how our people, teams, and processes work together, helping  him to identify solutions that can strengthen operations and benefit both the firm and its clients. He especially enjoys the opportunity to collaborate across teams, solve problems, and mentor employees in their personal and professional growth.

Before joining The Welch Group, Brent spent 13 years in commercial insurance, where his work spanned sales, business development, team leadership, and risk management for national clients. Earlier in his career, he served with the U.S. Secret Service under the Department of Homeland Security, supporting protective operations in Washington, D.C. Together, these experiences shaped his thoughtful approach to assessing risk, adapting to change, building trusted relationships, and developing practical solutions that support the firm and the clients we serve.

His commitment to developing others extends beyond the office. Brent is passionate about giving back through community service, particularly by mentoring high school and college students. He has also coached youth sports and leads small groups, valuing each opportunity to be a steady, positive influence in the lives of others. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, running, reading, collecting, and spending time with his family.
